Code Blue Celebrates 20th Anniversary

Since 1989, the Code Blue Corporation evolved from manufacturing bollards, offering security light units, to a thriving business with a comprehensive line of pedestal, wall and/or pole mounted emergency telephone communication units; as well as related software and hardware. Code Blue is celebrating its twentieth anniversary in business this year.

The original four feet tall, nominal 12-inch diameter Code Blue bollards were used to light paths and area walkways. Through a suggestion from a Midwestern university, the opportunity to redesign the bollard with a communications device was added to create an emergency call unit. Committed to refine systems and processes to address this new specialty market, Code Blue emerged as a premier manufacturer for Interactive Voice Communication Systems (IVCS)

Reflecting on the company’s history, Gail Racelis, marketing manager, notes, “Like the industry we serve, we are evolving as a company. Code Blue is located near Lake Michigan’s east shore in Holland, Michigan. Its parent company, Genzink Steel, is a national supplier of complex metal fabrications for many industries including the U.S. Government and the Department of Defense.
