1.0 GENERAL DESCRIPTION
1.1 The unit (Code Blue InterAct 500 Series) shall be an easily identifiable, vandal resistant communications device that is Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant, multi-functional, wall mounted, and constructed of heavy stainless steel. The unit shall be aesthetically pleasing and shall be a quality, vandal resistant, hands-free communications device with an optional remotely mounted blue strobe and/or beacon that serves to identify the unit from a great distance.
1.2 The communication system shall be designed so that a single touch on the communications device button shall immediately and automatically dial a preprogrammed number. This shall have the option to simultaneously activate a blue strobe or an optional peripheral device such as a remote preset for closed circuit television (CCTV). Immediately after establishing the phone connection with the receiving party, the communications device shall be capable of sending a signal identifying the specific unit being activated. The strobe shall continue to flash, drawing attention to the location until the receiving party terminates the call.
2.0 CONSTRUCTION
2.1 Surface mount: The housing shall be favricated of 16-guage stainless steel. The unit shall be 7.375 inches wide, 7.125 inches high, 2 inches deep. The housing assembly shall consist of a two-piece construction permitting the back plate to be mounted during the rough in and the face/electronics installed during completion. The back shall have four holes for the accommodation of mounting hardware.
2.2 Flush mount: The faceplate assembly shall be fabricated of 12-guage stainless steel and the flush mounting box shall be assembled to the faceplate and fabricated of 14-guage painted steel. The flush mounting box shall be 8.125 inches high and 3.5 inches deep. The faceplate shall be 9 inches square and provide an overlap to the mounting box to eliminate additional trim work.
3.0 MOUNTING
The surface mount unit shall attach to the wall with four anchors that are provided by others. The flush mount unit shall be inserted into the wall cavity and anchored in place by others.
4.0 ELECTRICAL
4.1 All wiring shall be concealed within the enclosure and shall not be visible from the outside of the unit.
4.2 The unit shall be phone line powered.
5.0 COMMUNICATIONS
5.1 The unit shall have a high quality, vandal resistant and ADA compliant speakerphone communications device.
5.2 Standard Speakerphone: (Code Blue InterAct 500 Series)
The speakerphone shall be InterAct 500 Series and have one 1.5 inch piezoelectric button labeled “PUSH FOR HELP,” one 3/8 inch diameter red light emitting diode (LED) labeled “Calling,” and one 3/8 inch diameter green LED labeled “Answered.” The speakerphone shall be phone line powered, be remotely programmable and have a built-in contact closure for strobe or camera contact activation. DIP switch programming and push-to-talk devices are not acceptable.
5.3 The speakerphone shall require 20-35 mA loop current at the unit.
5.4 The InterAct 500 Series speakerphone shall have the following standard features:
• Phone line powered
• Programmable from a remote location
• Built-in contact closure output for strobe or camera activation
• Conformal-coated electronics to withstand harsh environments
• Waterproof 3.5-inch speaker
• Waterproof microphone
• 0 to 16 digits touch tone location ID
• Built-in dialer accommodates six 16-digit numbers or a ring down setting
• Automatically redials or dials new phone number on buys signal or ring no answer
• Disconnects on busy, #, return of dial tone, programmable timer, CPC or repetitive tones
• Operating temperatures of -22F to +150F (tested to -40F)
• Compatible with the following monitoring stations: 4+1 Express and 4+2 Express formats
• Complies with Part 68 and Part 15 of the FCC rules for the United States
6.0 FINISH
6.1 The unit shall be stainless steel with a number 4 brushed finish.
7.0 OPTIONS
7.1 The unit shall be capable of utilizing a remote mount combination blue beacon and strobe unit or individual blue beacon or strobe for rapid unit location.
7.2 An optional two-button version (Model 500-d) surface mount or (Model 501-d) flush mount shall be available.
7.2.1 The two-button version (500-d/501-d) features shall be as follows:
• There shall be a button labeled “Push for Help.” This button when touched will automatically place a call to the pre-programmed number(s) and activate the optional strobe.
• There shall be a button labeled “Info.” This button when activated shall automatically place a phone call to the pre-programmed number(s).
7.3 There shall be an option of safety blue, safety red or safety yellow paint colors.
8.0 WARRANTY
The unit shall be warranted for a period of one year. Reference manufacturers warranty for further details.
